Internacional became the first team to secure a spot in the next round of the Copa do Brasil after eliminating Athletic on Tuesday (12). The Gaúcho side advanced with a 5–3 aggregate win, confirming their place in the Round of 16.
The stage features 16 clubs competing in two-legged ties. The qualified teams remain in contention for the national tournament title.
If the aggregate score is level, the tie will be decided by penalties. There is no away goals rule.
The current Copa do Brasil champion is Corinthians. The final of this edition is scheduled for December.
Round of 16 matchups will be determined by a draw organized by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), which will also announce dates and times for the games.
